SPORTS MINISTRY APPROVAL AND ASSURANCE OF A GRANT.

A SET OF PROPOSALS TO CONDUCT THE 2ND SOUTH ASIAN SEPAKTAKRAW CHAMPIONDSHIP IN SRI LANKA WAS PRESENTED TO THE HON’BLE MINISTER OF SPORTS PRIOR TO THE PRESIDENT AND SECRETARY – GENERAL OF THE ASSOCIATION ATTENDED THE ANNUAL SOUTH ASIAN SEPAKTAKRAW FEDERATION MEETING IN HYDERABAD ON THE 29TH JULY 2016. THE HON’BLE MINISTER GRANTED APPROVAL TO PRESENT THE PROPOSALS TO STAGE THE 2ND SOUTH ASIAN SEPAKTAKRAW CHAMPIONSHIP IN SRI LANKA EITHER IN DECEMBER 2016 OR IN JANUARY 2017.

SOUTH ASIAN SEPAKTAKRAW CHAMPIONSHIP.

THIS CHAMPIONSHIP WAS ORGANISED FOR THE FIRST TIME BY ‘ SASTAF ‘ IN NEPAL IN 2012 BY THE SEPAKTAKRAW FEDERATION OF NEPAL AND HAD INDIA, PAKISTAN, BANGLADESH, SRI LANKA, AND HOST NEPAL PARTICIPATING. THE SOUTH ASIAN NATIONS ARE SOMEWHAT SHORT OF INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS IN THE REGION. HENCE AN ANNUAL CHAMPIONSHIP AMONG THE COUNTRIES WOULD PROVIDE NECESSARY INTERNATIONAL EXPOSURE TO ASPIRING YOUTH OF THE RESPECTIVE COUNTRIES WITHOUT HAVING TO WAIT FOR ASIAN GAMES OR OTHER INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS TAKING PLACE EVERY TWO OR FOUR YEARS GAP THE CHAMPIONSHIP WILL BE ROTATED IN TURN AMONG THE FIVE COUNTRIES.
